4-Day Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari– Explore the Heart of Uganda's Wilderness

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Kampala or Entebbe, heading west through Uganda’s beautiful countryside. Enjoy scenic views of rolling hills, tea plantations, and traditional villages along the way, and we will enjoy our lunch en route. Arrive and check in at your lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park in time and have some rest and refreshments. Later in the afternoon, we head out for our first game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, where herds of Ugandan kob, buffalo, and elephants roam freely. Keep your eyes out for predators such as lions and leopards blending into the savannah. Check in at your lodge, enjoy a relaxing evening, and listen to the sounds of the wild as the sun sets over the Rift Valley.

Rise early for a morning game drive, the best time to catch predators on the move and wildlife at its most active. Explore the diverse ecosystems of the park—from savannah grasslands to crater lakes. After lunch, head to Mweya Peninsula for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a wildlife-packed waterway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Watch as hippos wallow, elephants drink, and crocodiles sunbathe along the shores. The birdlife is spectacular—featuring everything from African fish eagles to kingfishers and pelicans. After the boat trip, drive to Ishasha Sector of the park, famous for tree-climbing lions. Arrive at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, depart for the chimpanzee trekking experience. Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge (Queen Elizabeth National Park) offers an immersive, "underground" rainforest experience in a sunken valley of apes. Treks involve a steep 200-meter drop into the gorge escarpment and navigating thick, sometimes strenuous terrain, and last between 1 to 3 hours, offering about an 80% chance of tracking habituated chimpanzee families. Once the trek is done, embark on a 75 km to 85 km drive to the southern part of the park-Ishasha Sector. As you drive south toward Ishasha, the landscape changes to open savannah, which is an excellent opportunity to spot elephants, antelopes, and occasionally leopards right from your vehicle. Arrive at the lodge in Ishasha for lunch and some rest. In the afternoon, you will embark on Ishasha's game drive to spot Ishasha's famous residents - Tree-climbing lions. During the heat of the day, these prides seek relief and a good vantage point by sprawling across the heavy branches of large fig and acacia trees. You will also encounter large numbers of topi, Uganda kob (often gathered in their mating grounds), buffaloes, bushbucks, and waterbucks. After this adventure, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After enjoying your last breakfast in the wilderness, begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening with memories of Uganda’s incredible wildlife and natural beauty.
