5-day Rwanda Gorilla, Golden Monkey and Chimpanzee trekking Safari

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our professional safari guide for a safari briefing before beginning your journey to Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of Rwanda's rolling hills, picturesque countryside, and local communities.

Today is dedicated to one of the most unforgettable experiences in Rwanda: gorilla trekking! After an early breakfast, you will gather at the park headquarters for a briefing on the day's trek and the important conservation efforts in place to protect these incredible creatures. Accompanied by experienced trackers and guides, you will venture into the heart of the rainforest, navigating through a variety of terrains as you seek out one of the mountain gorilla families. Once you locate the gorillas, you will spend an hour observing them as they go about their daily activities, providing a rare glimpse into their world. The experience is truly awe-inspiring, highlighting the beauty and importance of wildlife conservation. Once the trek is complete, you will return to your accommodation to reflect on the day's adventure and enjoy a well-deserved meal. In the evening, you can visit nearby local communities to learn about Rwandan culture, including traditional dance performances, local crafts, and ways of life in the shadow of the volcanoes.

After breakfast, return to the park for a golden monkey trekking adventure. Observe the rare and endangered golden monkeys as you watch their playful behavior in the bamboo forests. These striking, endangered primates are a subspecies of the blue monkey and are famous for their vibrant orange-gold fur. They are incredibly energetic, often leaping quickly through the bamboo canopy or sometimes venturing into nearby farmlands to feed on potatoes. You will also learn about the conservation efforts in the Virunga ecosystem. Following the trek, depart for Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa's oldest and most biodiverse rainforests.

Combining chimpanzee trekking and a canopy walk in Rwanda’s Nyungwe Forest National Park provides one of Africa's most thrilling primate experiences. Today, begin your day with an early morning trek through the dense rainforest as expert guides lead you in search of habituated chimpanzee groups. As you walk beneath towering trees and listen to the sounds of the forest, the excitement builds with every call echoing through the canopy. Once the chimpanzees are located, you'll have the opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat as they feed, play, groom, and communicate with one another. In the afternoon, you embark on a suspended canopy walkway that floats 70 meters above the jungle floor. Thereafter, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kigali. Along the way, enjoy Rwanda's breathtaking scenery and make optional stops for souvenirs and photography. Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy a short city tour before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
