9-Day Tanzania Great Migration and Zanzibar Safari

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, where you’ll be met by our driver-guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Settle in, relax after your journey, and prepare for your safari adventure. Optional: Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a city tour or cultural excursion around Arusha.

Begin your safari with a scenic drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, known for its ancient baobab trees and large elephant population. The Tarangire River attracts diverse wildlife, especially during the dry season, when animals converge here for water. Expect to see zebras, wildebeests, lions, giraffes, and over 500 bird species.

After breakfast, depart for the Serengeti, driving through the beautiful highlands and stopping for wildlife viewing en route. We arrive in time for lunch at the lodge in the Serengeti. In the afternoon, we head out on your first game drive across the golden savannah, which is home to the iconic Great Wildebeest Migration and other wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, elephants, and more. Thereafter, return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Few places on earth evoke the raw, untamed spirit of Africa like the Serengeti. Stretching across vast golden plains, dotted with acacia trees and teeming with wildlife, Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most iconic safari destination — and for good reason. Spend a full day exploring the Serengeti. Depending on the time of year, you may witness the Great Migration—over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras moving in search of fresh grazing. Look out for predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards, and marvel at the endless variety of wildlife in one of the world's most famous ecosystems. Optional: Hot air balloon safari at sunrise (extra cost)

After a morning game drive and breakfast, begin the journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through more wildlife-rich territory. Optional stop at Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. Arrive at your lodge on the crater rim and enjoy panoramic views.

Descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive in one of the most spectacular wildlife settings on Earth. The crater floor hosts a high concentration of animals, including the rare black rhino, lions, buffaloes, zebras, and flamingos around Lake Magadi. We will have our picnic on top of the crater overlooking the landscape below. After lunch, transfer to Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar Island—a scenic journey from savannah to sea. Upon arrival at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ), our representative will meet you and transfer you to your beach resort. Spend your evening relaxing on the beach, swimming in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, or enjoying a tropical cocktail with your toes in the sand. Optional: Sunset dhow cruise or beachside massage.

Enjoy a full day at your leisure. Zanzibar offers much more than just beaches—you can explore the island’s history and culture or dive into adventure. Day activities: • Stone Town Tour – Discover the UNESCO World Heritage site, with its narrow alleys, Arabic architecture, old forts, and spice markets. • Spice Farm Visit – Learn about the island’s clove and spice trade. • Snorkeling or diving – Visit coral reefs around Mnemba Atoll or Chumbe Island.

You will simply relax on the beach and enjoy a laid-back day in paradise. In the Afternoon you can visit Jozani Forest Walk – See red colobus monkeys and explore the island’s unique biodiversity.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast by the sea, then transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your outbound flight—or extend your stay for more beach bliss. If your international flight departs from Kilimanjaro or Nairobi, you can connect through Dar es Salaam or Arusha.
