3 Days Chimpanzee Trekking Safari in Nyungwe Forest Rwanda
Description
Nyungwe National Park is among the 3 existing national parks in Rwanda and home to the man’s closest cousins-the chimpanzees. It’s the best destination for the primate’s safari in East Africa especially the Chimpanzees. Nyungwe forest is one of the expansive remaining montane forests in Africa and the forest has been in existence since the Ice Age period. It is also highlighted by some researchers that it is one of the sources of the great River Nile because of the alternating hilly, mountainous, and flat terrains in the forest. Nyungwe forest national park was established as a forest reserve in 1903 before it was fully ranked as National Park in 2004. Nyungwe forest national park occupies an area of about 970 square kilometers and is situated in the southwestern part of Rwanda closer to the Cyangungu town near Lake Kivu and adjacent to the borders of Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Nyungwe forest National Park canopy walk is the most breathtaking experience in East Africa; it is the only national park where tourists experience incomparable adventure on a canopy walk. The canopy walk begins at the Uwinka Visitors Center and goes through a hanging setting that is about 45 meters above the ground. From these heights, visitors enjoy the stunning views of the dense rainforest, animal, and bird species. The canopy walk is very entertaining, exciting, and adventurous, though scary for those with a fear of heights. This safari is available throughout the year and starts on any day of the week. This tour starts and ends in Kigali city, pre and after safari, accommodation can be arranged on request and comes with a complimentary airport transfer.
